    About Dynacorts

Our mission is to quantify stress resilience to identify who is at risk for stress-related disorders and to develop treatment options for stress-related mood and anxiety disorders.

To achieve these goals, we probe one of the two receptors for the stress hormone cortisol in the brain: the brain mineralocorticoid receptor (MR). We have discovered that this receptior protein is crucial for an adequate response in a stressful environment. We have also found functional genetic variation in this system that may tip the balance of stress resilience to vulnerability.

We are convinced that functional information of genes in the stress system combined with psychological (e.g. coping strategy) and environmental (e.g. experienced traumatic events) will support targeted interventions to prevent or to treat stress-related brain disorders.
